It’s crazy how much I saw parts of myself in each of their thoughts, hesitations, and realizations. The lessons they learned weren’t necessarily new or groundbreaking, but that’s exactly what made them so important. Sometimes, we need to be reminded of the things we already know but tend to forget in the rush of life. What stood out to me was that change didn’t come just from the books they were recommended, but also from the way they began to see themselves and also the people around them differently. Some of them built deeper, warmer connections, some just created their own small communities of support. That warmth and quiet transformation made this book so special to me. Many moments in this novel touched my heart, and the fact that I read an annotated copy gifted by a friend, made the experience even more meaningful. This book entirely changed my perspective on life. It tells the stories of five individuals living in Tokyo, Japan. All of them visit the library for different reasons and meet Mrs. Komachi the librarian who recommends them books that will change their perspective on their current situation forever. Inspirational tales, all connected with a mysterious librarian. This book just makes you feel good! I’ve read it during my vacation in Japan, it’s a great lecture to read on train rides or on an airplane.

I really enjoyed this collection of 5 short stories, where the people find new sense/ideas through book recommendations from the local librarian. It’s a really cozy and easy read. Also made me think about my own experiences sometimes. Would read it again! :)
