Noise Was unsere Entscheidungen verzerrt – und wie wir sie verbessern können

Guten Tag, mit dem Buch bin das erste Mal im Rahmen meines wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Studiums in Berührung gekommen. Damals waren es allerdings nur kurze Auszüge, die ich gelesen hatte. Dann vor einigen Monaten hat einer der renommiertesten Strafverteidiger meiner Stadt und auch bundesweit in einem Podcast dieses Buch empfohlen. Umgehend habe ich mir das Buch vor Ort bei Thalia gekauft und es regelrecht "verschlungen". In jeglicher Hinsicht kann ich das Buch nur dringend empfehlen. Es ist so praxisnah aber auch gleichzeitig wissenschaftlich fundiert. Vom Vorwort bis hin zum Epilog war es eine reine Bereicherung.

Like Professor Kahneman’s book ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow’ not an easy read and in case you’ve never heard of the word Noise as a concept out of the statistical vocabulary, you have an extra heavy burden to start with, but it pays out well though. You suddenly don’t have to die dumb in the world of a lot of professional occupations. Did you’ve ever hear that judicial sentences tend to be more severe when it is hot outside? What about the influence of the effect of sunshine on the stock market or that physicians are significantly more likely to prescribe opioids at the end of a long day or at the same part of the day are more likely to prescribe antibiotics and less likely to prescribe flu shots…? All cases of Noise. Noise in this respect has nothing to do with an acoustical phenomenon. Noise is the ‘unwanted variability of judgements’. There are different forms of Noise, which are all mentioned, explained and discussed with examples. You are taken through the book by the three authors with a couple of questions, of which a lot of course are answered wrongly by the reader - at least I did. Okay having read ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow’ helped a bit. Therefore I wasn’t a complete stranger in the field of the Psychology of ‘How ze wurld goes rround’. I must admit that I’d never heard of the concept Noise as such before though. Yes I heard of the ‘Delphi method’, but where its place was in the big scheme, I could not have told you. From that point of view I find the book an important read. For the folks who really get motivated by the book, it contains three short chapters on how to have a ‘noise audit’ and what is considered as essential, when you decide to organize such an audit in your own organization. In that case I would advise to work yourself through the book twice though. As said ‘Noise’ is not the non-fiction twin of Ernest Hemingway’s ‘The old man and the sea’. The three authors are heavy weights in the world of science! Daniel Kahneman is professor of Psychology at Princeton University. He won the Nobel Prize in economic sciences (2002). Olivier Simony is professor Strategy and Business Policy at École des hautes études commerciales Paris (HEC) and Cass Sunstein is professor at Harvard, where he is founder and director of the Program on ‘Behavioural Economics and Public Policy’.

"Noise" zu deutsch Geräusch oder hier besser als Lärm übersetzt, steht in diesem aufregenden Sachbuch stellvertretend für die Vielzahl von Einflüssen, die unser Urteils- und Entscheidungsvermögen trüben. Kaum wer kann sich wirklich frei davon machen, das Verständnis hilft jedoch.

Ein Buch das gelesen werden müsste. Eine Karte um sich besser kennenzulernen und der beste Entscheidungsführer der momentan zu haben ist. Fundiert und tiefsinnig.

Viele gute Beispiele, sorgfältig ausgearbeitete, gut nachvollziehbare Ausführungen. Unbedingter Lesetipp!
