The Stolen Heir A Novel of Elfhame, The No 1 Sunday Times Bestseller 2023

I won't lie, I avoided reading this book for a year and a half because I was a teensy bit scared it would taint the magic of The Folk of the Air trilogy for me. But oh how it did the opposite. Once I started reading The Stolen Heir, I could not stop. Returning to this deliciously dark fantasy world was so easily done. I had such an amazing time while reading. The story itself had me hooked immediately. It was rather fast-paced and for fans (and to-be-fans) of the original trilogy extremely captivating. The characters were so loveable as well. Especially Wren might be one of my all-time favorite characters. Her point of view and how she sees certain things were delightful to read. And seeing Oak being so grown up now, had me so emotional. This book is definitely more enjoyable if you have enjoyed The Folk of the Air trilogy.

I love Holly Blacks books for a number of reasons. Mainly because she writes about fairytales like she means to warn you: All wishes come at a price. Someone is violently torn out of their comfortable life and enters a world of loose morals, bereft of warmth and humanity. Beauty is dangerous and easily weaponized - but ugliness as well. Everything you desire could quite possibly ruin you. There’s always this sense of wild and tragic longing and yet it doesn’t feel overdone, corny or cliché. The story of The Stolen Heir is no different in that regard. If you’ve enjoyed the Folk of the Air series for the same reasons, you’ll not be disappointed.

I've been waiting for this book since Holly Black mentioned it a few months ago and I'm not disappointed. It's just as amazing as I predicted it to be. Gorgeous cover design, I love it!

Sehr schöner Novelle. Aber ich habe irgendwie mit der Hauptprotaginsitin connecten können deswegen bin ich froh dass de 2 buch aus der sicht von oak geschrieben wird. Das ende hat mich auseinander genommen, bin so gespannt was passieren wird

If you love The Cruel Prince trilogy I'm sure you will love this one! Going back to this magic world was so good, the writing is fantastic as always and you can expect to meet some new characters that will make you fall in love!
