Lestat however comes to believe that his existence has become futile, that his deeds of shame are not supposed to continue, and so he surrenders to the body thief. But little did he know, that the renewed taste of mortality would not be what he remembered, neither did he take into consideration that the body thief himself could not purely be driven by "humanitarian" reasons. With the help of the Talamasca Lestat takes back his vampire-pride and starts chasing the entity that he gave his body to so stupidly willingly to. The tale of the body thief is an intriguing tale of pursuit and mystery, having set a story offside the normal vampire genre into the middle of it. It stands as worthy follower of the previous three books.
