    Important

    This is the first ever queer book that I read. I pirated it, because I didn't want my parents to know (because I thought that if they knew that I was reading queer books, it would mean that they knew I was queer). I was 12, maybe 13 and it hadn't occurred to me that there would be books written about queer people. This book started my journey of trying to love my queerness. But aside form the emotional value it holds to me, it is also just very good, heartbreaking and important. We need books like this, so that we never forget how we were treated and still are being treated in some parts of the world.
