Two Wrongs Make a Right

Ich weiß nicht wie und wer dieses Buch mit drei Sternen bewertet hat, aber es hat definitiv mehr bzw. meiner Meinung nach 5 Sterne verdient

Bei einem Maskenball versucht Beas Zwillingsschwester sie wieder einmal zu verkuppeln, diesmal mit Jamie. Doch durch eine Reihe von unglücklichen „Zufällen“ können sich die beiden nicht leiden. Doch sie werden erneut einander näher gebracht und diesmal drehen sie den Spieß um und tun so, als wären sie zusammen, um sich dann phänomenal zu trennen. Aber was ist, wenn sich das alles zu richtig anfühlt und andere Wahrheiten ans Licht kommen, die alles ganz neu interpretieren lassen? Bea und Jamie wechseln sich mit den Kapiteln ab. Bea hat eine Form des Autismus, kann damit aber gut leben. Sie liebt Kunst, aber ihr Ex hat durch seinen toxischen Einfluss einiges kaputt gemacht, was sie nur langsam wieder in sich findet. Jamie leidet unter Angstzuständen und wirkt daher oft arrogant, weil er nichts sagt oder nur Offensichtliches von sich gibt. Auch leidet er unter der unterkühlten Stimmung in seiner Familie und auch die Zurückweisung seiner Ex mit dem Beigeschmack, nicht genug zu sein, setzt ihm immer noch zu. Beide Figuren wurden gut dargestellt, haben ihre Probleme, aber im eigentlichen Leben kommen sie gut zurecht. Die Geschichte verläuft klassisch, Anziehung, Streit, Fake, Liebe, Drama, Happy End? Und doch macht die Geschichte Spaß, denn gerade mit der jeweiligen nüchternen Betrachtung, wirken die Gefühle viel intensiver. Manche Aktionen wären so nicht nötig gewesen, passten aber zu den Figuren. Nun kam Kate nach Hause und Christopher reagiert so komisch – guter Appetizer zu Band zwei.

„Two Wrongs Make a Wright“ is a rom com that incorporates the enemies to lovers trope as well as the fake dating one and puts a fun spin on Shakespeare’s „Much Ado About Nothing“. Bea is used to her sister‘s meddling, but in orchestrating a rather horrifying meet-cute with the admittedly attractive but rather closed-off Jamie, she has definitely gone too far. So, Bea and Jamie join forces to get revenge by pretending to be head over heels for one another only to later break up spectacularly and in doing so put an end to the never-ending matchmaking. What if Juliet wasn’t that off in nudging them towards each other, though? I have read a couple of Chloe Liese’s books previous to this one and was eager to dive into „Two Wrongs Make a Right“ , but it left me with mixed feelings. I did enjoy the overall story and the spin it puts on Shakespeare’s „Much Ado About Nothing“. I loved the representation, since it features characters with autism as well as with anxiety. I did not, however, get why or how exactly faking a relationship only to break up should feel like getting revenge. The only ones getting hurt in the process would be the ones in the relationship. I appreciate that Bea and Jamie point out how important open communication is, though, so that’s definitely a plus in my book. Bea and Juliet’s relationship is one I simultaneously appreciate and find annoying, or rather I am not a big fan of Juliet’s pushiness. I know that 99 percent of the time there’s some kind of conflict/misunderstanding before the HEA. Most of the time it’s more frustrating than anything else in my opinion – just like in this case. I guess, it’s somewhat understandable, but I didn’t care for it either way. Even though I didn’t love this book, I still enjoyed reading it. If you are a fan of spicy rom coms, appreciate neurodivergent characters and open communication, „Two Wrongs Make a Wright“ might just be the book for you.
