This Wicked Fate by Kalynn Bayron Pages: 307 Genre: Fantasy My Rating: 5/5 Oh my gosh if you know me you know how much I loved „this poison heart“! This one is the sequel to it and also the last book in the duology! In the First Book we were left with that insane plottwist and the sequel follows right after this happened! Bri was left with her biological family and this big task she has to do to get the person back she loves the most. In the sequel we Are learning more about the cholchis Family and their history but also about the other people and their history who Are after the Absyrtus Heart! There’s a lot of Greek mythology included and of course plant facts which helps expanding your knowledge about them. This was fast paced as the first one and sometimes I got the clues faster together as bri did but that was okay hehe. I loved reading about bris feelings to certain situations and persons. It was exciting to see whats happening to Karter and his friend/relationship with bri. We got a lot of Marie content and there was definitely chemistry between her and Bri. I honestly could Imagne another sequel since there’s still a lot to learn for bri but if that’s happening is up to the author! Booktok: Deryalovestoread

Befriedigendes Ende, hätte aber mehr Potenzial gehabt

Die leider etwas mittelmäßige Fortsetzung zu »This Poison Heart«, in dem Briseis mithilfe ihrer leiblichen Familie und Marie versucht, ihre Mutter von den Toten zurück zu holen, in dem sie das Absyrtos-Herz wieder zusammensetzt. Aber auch die Gegenseite sucht nach den fehlenden Stücken, was die Sache gefährlich macht. Anders als in Band eins gibt es jetzt ein klares Ziel, weshalb die Story Fahrt aufnimmt und von Anfang an etwas interessanter zu verfolgen ist. Aber trotz einiger abwechslungsreicher Auftritte griechischer Götter, ist die Geschichte leider leicht vorhersehbar und es gibt keine großen Wendungen. Die Charaktere sind dabei wieder teilweise ganz sympathisch, aber irgendwie lernt man Marie einfach etwas wenig richtig kennen und auch Briseis bleibt etwas blass. Trotzdem liest sich der Schreibstil, der wieder aus ihrer Sicht erzählt, aber sehr flüssig und gut. Und auch die Atmosphäre und die Idee an sich sind ja toll, weshalb es wirklich etwas schade ist, dass das Potenzial nicht völlig ausgenutzt wurde. Insgesamt jedenfalls ein passendes Ende für die Dilogie und was für alle, die Neuinterpretationen griechischer Mythen mögen. In dieser hier steckt auf jeden Fall viel Mühe, auch wenn der Plot echt noch etwas spannender hätte sein können.
