Rezension

"By turns amusing, sensual and sober, but always compelling, this is a first-rate offering from a truly talented storyteller." - Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Secrets of a Summer Night

"Kleypas is a romance gem, a queen among a vast royal court of historical romance authors, and Chasing Cassandra is a welcome star in her brightly twinkling constellation of interstellar romantic achievements." - Entertainment Weekly

"Spectacular... The plot is well-balanced, the pace steady, the characters deliciously complex, and the chemistry electric. Kleypas fans and first timers alike will fall in love with this refreshing romance." - Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Chasing Cassandra

"The rare author who can make you laugh and cry- on the same page." - Julia Quinn

"With her hallmark intense sensuality and skill for crafting a finely tuned, highly romantic tale, Kleypas pulls out all the stops as Annabelle and Simon embark upon a passionate journey of the heart. What a sheer joy to read, and you'll emit a deep sigh as you turn the last page." - RT Book Reviews (top pick) on Secrets of a Summer Night

1st Wallflower Story

Mag aus Berlin am 21.01.2021

Bewertungsnummer: 703911

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

In her Wallflower Quartet Lisa Kleypas tells the stories of four young girls - Annabelle, the American sisters Lillian and Daisy, and Evangeline - all presumed wallflowers, who band together to find a husband. This book is dedicated to Annabelle Peyton, a young woman of aristocratic but impoverished background, who wants to better her family's finances by ensnaring a rich and titled husband - a task that is not easily obtained. On the other hand there is a successful commoner, Simon Hunt, a self-made-man from inferior background but with bright and lucrative ideas about the upcoming railroad industry, who would gladly provide Annabelle with money for a few favors. Too bad that the lady seems not interested at first. But Lisa Kleypas wouldn't be a well-known author of romance if she could not think of ways to impress the lady and to turn her world upside down. A nice and easy read, but not the best of the wallflower series. An entertaining story worth reading nevertheless.
