it takes alot for me to tear up, but the way both boys spoke about things that i keep as a burden deep burried inside of me just hurt alot. this book is wonderful and it shows just how much love can achive

Das zweite Buch über Ari und Dante und es war… ja was war es? Berührend, voller Liebe, voller achtsamer Gespräche, voller Freundschaft, voller guter Gedanken, Mitgefühl und Hoffnung. . Ganz abholen konnte es mich leider trotzdem nicht. Der Autor hat einen sehr philosophischen Ansatz gewählt, um seine Botschaften an den Leser zu überbringen. Manchmal mag ich das, manchmal holt mich das wunderbar ab, so auch beim ersten Teil. . Hier war es mir aber gesamt zu viel. Die Message des Autors kam zwar an, und das absolut positiv - ich liebe es, wie BA Sáenz schreibt. Aber das Drumherum, die viele Liebe für Freunde, Eltern, Partner, Geschwister.. das war einfach zu viel. Ständige Liebeserklärungen zwischen allen Figuren sind einfach irgendwann mühsam zu lesen. Vor allem, als Ari zum gefühlt 27. Mal gesagt wurde, dass er jetzt schon wirklich ein Mann sei. . Hätte das Buch 200 Seiten weniger gehabt, wäre es mir vielleicht nicht so aufgefallen. Denn die Story war lieb, es ist eine schöne Geschichte. Der rote Faden ging zwar manchmal durch das viele Geschwafel verloren, aber das war nicht schlimm. . Hinterlassen hat mir das Buch viel Wärme — es ist schön, über Menschen zu lesen, die liebevoll, achtsam und bedacht mit sich und anderen umgehen. Und ihre Handlungen auch hinterfragen und sich Gedanken machen. Da kann man sich mal eine Scheibe abschneiden. . Fazit: Eine gute Fortsetzung, die aber an den ersten Band nicht herankommt. Einfach ein liebes Buch, das für meinen Geschmack eine Spur zu lange geraten ist

Ein fantastischer zweiter Band, der mehr als einmal zum nachdenken anregt. Ich bin ein großer Fan von Benjamin Alire Sáenz‘ Schreibstil! Eines der besten Bücher die ich dieses Jahr gelesen habe. Nur zu empfehlen

When I heard there would be a sequel to Aristotle and Dante, I was a bit confused. I didn’t know what it could be about so I didn’t have high expectations. But I was sooo wrong. I liked the sequel even better, than the first book. Saenz has a magical use of words, that makes you experience every feeling. This book is about dying and living. It’s about being silent when there's so much to say. About love and the hatred that arises from it. About being different, but not to stand out. About faith and the sinning that comes with it. The story takes place in the 80s, so Saenz writes a lot about the aids epidemic and the impact it had on society. Ari has grown a lot since the first book, but there’s still a lot to come. He learned to open up and just like that he found friends who accept and love him. He seems to be a wise old man in the body of a high school student and now he learns to use that wisdom against his opponents. He still has to hide who he really is, but either way he learned to understand and love his relationship with Dante and stood up for him and his friends. I just know "Aristotle and Dante Dives into the Waters of the World” is one of those books I'll read hundreds of times.

Ari’s and Dante’s story and love continues in this overwhelming, lovely Sequel. Together they discover the beauty of the world and overcome all obstacles that come with growing up and loss. Just like the first one this book makes you fall in love with it!
