Ich lese viel, sehr viel vermutlich um die 25.000 Seiten im Jahr - aber selten fesselt mich eine Autorin wie Stephanie Garber. Vielleicht weil ich nicht die klassische Fantasyleserin bin, aber ihr Schreibstil, die Art wie die Charaktäre ausgearbeitet sind über die drei Bände, ist phantastisch! Na klar gibt es hier und dort ein bisserl Leerlauf - ich möchte den Druck ein Buch zu schreiben nicht haben - aber sie schafft es, die Spannung durchwegs aufrecht zu halten. Die Geschichte öffnet sich alle paar Kapitel mit neuen Informationen, neuen Irrungen und Wirrungen und natürlich mit einer großartigen Liebesgeschichte, die sich so fein entwickelt. Genau dieses feine Entwicklung macht es so süß, dass es eben nicht gleich nach 5 Seiten klar ist wohin der Weg führt. Auch wenn man im dritten Band merkt, dass der Druck des Verlages offenbar stieg und damit die Geschichte darunter leidet, bin ich zu 100% begeistert. Ganz klare Leseempfehlung. Nehmt euch viel Zeit, eine dicke gemütliche Decke und kauft auf Vorrat ein, ihr werdet das Buch erstmal nicht so schnell weglegen.

Ich habe es sehr geliebt. Die Charaktere sind abgedreht, die Story ist rasant und es passiert so vieles in so kurzer Zeit. Ich konnte es nicht weglegen - einfach märchenhaft.

Das erste Band habe ich noch am Besten gefunden. Ich mochte es dass es um die akute Beziehung zwischen Jacks und Evangeline ging. Dazu war es auch sehr spannend. Das Buch war gut geschrieben und sehr verständlich. Die Charaktere waren gut aufgebaut und die Umgebung passend.

To be honest I think that the plot of OUABH spoils for the whole Caraval Series and that you can have trouble getting into the world when you haven't read the Caraval series. The synopsis DOES contain SPOILERS FOR the CARAVAL SERIES so please continue only if you are comfortable with it. Of course, is this only my personal opinion on the book and just because I give this rating to the book doesn’t mean, that everyone will have that opinion. I love the Caraval Series and I was so excited to hear that there will be a book about Jacks. The prince of hearts is such an interesting character and I couldn’t wait to hear more about him. OUABH is set in the same universe as Caraval and takes place after Finale. I loved seeing old characters and the world again! Jacks as the main male protagonist was fantastic and I also liked Evangeline. She isn’t like Scarlett or Donatella but still very likeable. I think there is still a lot of room for character development. I liked the basic plot idea but to be honest, I had a few problems with the pacing. Some scenes were amazing and detailed but other ones were really fast and needed more details in my opinion. The book could have been 100 pages longer and more detailed in my opinion. Sadly the book lacked a little bit of the magic that the Caraval series had but I think it will be better in the next book because it was the same with Carval and Legendary. I am excited to read the second book and I can't wait for it. Conclusion A great book for all the Caraval Fans out there! I give 4,5 from 5 Stars

the longer i think about this book the more i get confused. Plot twist included just for shock. and with no warning. people start betraying each other and the main girl is more stumbling into things. someone said you should only read this for the vibes… but even the vibes were confusing? was this a goth, fairy tale, or romance book?
