The Cid: Opera, In Four Acts And Ten Scenes (1895) is a theatrical work written by Adolphe D'Ennery. The book is a libretto for an opera based on the story of El Cid, a legendary hero of medieval Spain. The story follows the life of Rodrigo D¿¿¿¿¿¿az de Vivar, a nobleman who is exiled from his homeland after being falsely accused of a crime. He then becomes a mercenary and leads an army to fight against the Moors who have invaded Spain. Along the way, he falls in love with Chim¿¿¿¿¿ne, the daughter of his enemy, and must navigate the political and personal conflicts that arise from their relationship. The book is divided into four acts and ten scenes, each depicting a different moment in El Cid's life. The libretto is written in French and includes stage directions and lyrics for the opera. The Cid: Opera, In Four Acts And Ten Scenes is a classic work of literature that explores themes of love, honor, and loyalty set against the backdrop of medieval Spain.Music By Jules Massenet And Translated From The Original French By Frederic Lyster. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
