Amazing Book. All the characters were so well described, and I had the feeling I was one of them. We follow the female protagonists through their young adult lives in Seoul, where glamour, crazy richness, and social depravity come hand in hand. Kyuri was definitely my favorite character. Her inner thoughts gave a unique insight into what it entails to be viewed as beautiful while also being kept a dirty little secret by Korean men. 10/10

I LOVEDDD this book, all the characters were so well explained by a back story and/or current occurrences, you could really dive deep into each of the characters and understand them. Besides that it displays the privilege of being beautiful, the crises of wanting to be beautiful/ what you'll do for it and how nobody sees you as anything but beautiful as soon as you are, it also talks about some side stories that all link back to the original theme. If you're reading this: BUY IT!!!

Ich schreibe die Bewertung größtenteils, weil ich die einzig andere Bewertung für dieses Buch ganz und gar nicht nachvollziehen kann. Meiner Meinung nach ist der Schreibstil der Autorin dem Thema gerecht geblieben. Es werden harte Themen besprochen, die in unseren Gesellschaften meist immer noch nicht erwähnt werden (näher will ich nicht drauf eingehen, um Spoiler zu vermeiden). Es gab einige Wendepunkte, die ich nicht erwartet hätte und ich habe mehrmals mitgefiebert, wenn Charakter sich so benommen haben , wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Sehr spannend ist auch, dass die Autorin aus unterschiedlichen Sichten schreibt und so ein Charakter schnell anders beschrieben wird. Für mich ein grandioses Detail, da jeder Mensch eine andere Sichtweise hat. Das offene Ende fand ich super , da bei so komplexen Themen ein geradliniges Ende nicht gepasst hätte. Für mich absolut ein Highlight dieses Jahr

I had some difficulties with this book. First of all, I had a hard time getting into the story and liking the characters. It was just a bit too much of everything and became unnecessarily superficial. The story is about four different women and their fates. None of them were likeable to me, even though you definitely feel sympathy while reading. The story is kind of boring from the first page, although it is actually short. The book is sad and leaves you with a strange feeling. Mainly because,.. SPOILER the ending is completely open and meaningless. You don't know more at the end than you did at the beginning....

I loved the varied structure of this book. The story of each girl caught me and I always wanted to keep on reading. It showed how different we all live. Even though some choices of the characters were questionable, you still could follow their mindset.
