Piper Bellinger lives on her stepfather's money and is a professional It-girl. When she is dumped at a party, she breaks in into a swimming pool with many of her followers and celebrates the party of the century – just for the image on the net. But now her stepfather is furious and sends her to her hometown. Her late father's bar is not what she expected, but she stays as her sister Hannah supports her. Brendan Taggart is the captain of a fishing boat that does its main business with crab fishing. His wife passed away seven years ago and he is very attached to his routines. The first encounters of the two do not go well and yet there is this attraction. But she really wants to go back to LA, doesn't she? And he can't give up his job. Can this work? Both get their chapters to tell their story and that is necessary in this case, because Brendan is first so contradictory and then too focused and that would not have been possible from Piper's point of view to explain. Piper is first superficial and then insecure, but with her honesty always very sympathetic. And it's exciting to watch how she learns that only her opinion counts – with ups and downs... But I have to admit, I expected something different, not such a detailed and intense love act description, but it suits the two, because both are very impulsive. The second volume about Hannah and Fox is already on my watch list.

Gut, aber ausbaufähig

Grundsätzlich hat mich das Buch gut unterhalten, aber man hat gemerkt, dass einige Sachen einfach zu kurz gekommen sind. Piper war als Charakter eher flach. Nicht besonderes, nichts interessantes. Brendan hatte die Möglichkeit interessant zu sein, aber das wurde komplett in den Wind geworfen. Die ganze Beziehung zwischen Piper und Brendan basierte auf dem körperlichen und alles emotionale durfte man sich eher denken, als es mitzulesen. Schade, aber naja. Ich hätte gerne mehr Szenen mit Hannah und Opal gesehen. Mir haben untern Strich ca. 50Seiten gefehlt. Der zweite Teil "Hook, Line and Sinker" ist definitiv gelungener.
