Pale Fire With an Introduction by Mary Gaitskill

Man sollte das Buch unbedingt auf Englisch lesen, eine deutsche Übersetzung mach hier überhaupt keinen Sinn, wie es keinen Sinn macht, Goethe auf Englisch zu übersetzen, da die Magie des Buches von der Sprache des Autors (in diesem Fall: Englisch) herrührt. Ein Buch, dessen Mysterium man unmöglich entschlüsseln kann. Deckt man als Leser ein Geheimnis auf, öffnen sich drei neue. Was Nabokov hier geschaffen hat, ist unglaublich schön. Ich könnte Stunden damit verbringen, das Buch zu lesen und zu analysieren. Dabei hilft der Lesegenuss, da Nabokov sehr schön schreibt. Sehr gutes Buch - unbedingt auf Englisch lesen. Ist man der englischen Sprachen nicht mächtig genug (was viele englische Muttersprachler auch nicht sind), dann soll man es nicht lesen.

The poem by Shade in itself is beautiful and interesting to read. If you happen to read it first before Kinbotes commentary, then you might have a different feeling while continuing to read the rest of the book. If you enjoy playing the role of a makeshift detective as a reader, while also taking in the story as it is, you may want to give this book a try… I definitely enjoyed reading this book and picturing the story that was being created by both Kinbote and Shade, although I am also sure that I have missed many hidden truths between the lines… That being said, Nabokov can be a tough one to read, nonetheless worth reading.
