Portrait

Yu Dong is an Associate Professor within the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. His main research interests are polymer nanocomposites, electrospun nanofibers/nanocomposites, green composites, nanomaterial processing and characterisation, micromechanical modelling, finite element analysis, statistical design of experiments and engineering education. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and 30 fully referred conference papers, written 10 book chapters and edited 3 technical books. He serves as an associate editor of two international journals, with the specialty recognition of nanomaterials and nanocomposites.

Dr. Avinash Baji is a Lecturer at La Trobe University (Melbourne, Australia). He has authored and co-authored over 50 journal articles, with additional papers in conference proceedings and refereed abstracts. Some of these research papers are highly cited with three publications specially featured in (i) Lab Talk, nanotechweb.org on June 2, 2011; (ii) the Top 25 Hottest Articles by Composite Science and Technology; and (iii) the list of Most Downloaded Composite Science and Technology Articles. Additionally, one of his recent publication entitled, ‘Gecko-inspired dry adhesive based on micro-nanoscale hierarchical arrays for application in climbing devices’ has received media attention.

Seeram Ramakrishna is the Director of the Center for Nanofibres and Nanotechnology at the National University of Singapore (NUS), which is ranked among the top 20 universities in the world. He is regarded as the modern father of electrospinning. He is an elected Fellow of UK Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng); Singapore Academy of Engineering; Indian National Academy of Engineering; and ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology. He is an elected Fellow of the International Union of Societies of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE); Institution of Engineers Singapore; ISTE, India; Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining, UK; and American Association of the Advancement of Science; ASM International; American Society for Mechanical Engineers; American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering, USA. He is an editor of Elsevier journal Current Opinion in Biomedical Engineering.
