Wenn ich wissen möchte, was Glück ist, dann nehme ich diesen Roman zu Hand. Ich möchte nicht behaupten, dass Glück im Arbeiten liegt, aber ich möchte behaupten, dass Glück darin liegt, dass wir am Ende was geschaffen haben, wo wir sagen können: Seht her, dass und das, habe ich geschaffen. Wie hier in dieser Geschichte aus China, entsteht etwas, was durch die Arbeit und die damit verbundene Anstrengung zu einem Ziel führt, dass sichtbar wird. Es ist die "gute Erde", die der Anstrengung bedarf, damit wir was in den Händen halten. Und weil wir was in den Händen halten, dass uns befriedigt, ist diese Befriedigung unser Glück. Und genau deshalb liebe ich diesen Roman.
