Anne Lister is one of the more interesting people in queer history. Especially because she chronicled the details of her daily life - and man what a life it was.
A gender nonconformist, lesbian landowner, who lived in the 1800s, what more do you need to know?
And I especially like this biography here, because not only does Angela Steidele retell the important moments and relationships (better known as her sexual encounters) in a really interesting and gripping way, but she also underlies them with parts of Listers diary entries, like to proof a point - which gives the whole thing a more authentic feeling. Like you can grasp the inner life of this woman more, like there is more truth behind every story. Or as much truth as there can be when your main source of information is an unreliable narrator.
