The Wedding Date A 'warm, sexy gem of a novel'!

Jasmine Guillory's novel is a feel-good romance and the perfect read for a rainy day. Alexa and Drew don't know each other when they get stuck in an elevator together, but hit it off right away. So when Drew asks her to be his plus one at a wedding he dreads to attend, she agrees. Little do they know that that fake date would lead to something more. But will they be able to keep their spur-of-the-moment romance alive? After all, they live at opposite sides of the state… The blurb of this novel reminded me of the movie of the same name, so naturally I had to pick it up. Nowadays lots of romance novels - especially those of the steamier variety - romanticize unhealthy or even abusive relationships, so it was great to read about a couple that compliments each other as well as Alexa and Drew do. I also liked their friends a lot - they are the kind of great and supportive friends that everyone wishes for. What I did not expect going into this, was the inclusion of surprisingly deep topics, even if most of them were just grazed superficially. All in all I enjoyed "The Wedding Date" more than I thought I would and recommend it to every hopeless romantic out there.
