Another well-created psychological suspense novel by Claire Douglas. Every time I read a book by Claire Douglas, I’m amazed at how she consistently manages to turn situations around in such a way that you quickly sense something exciting is about to happen, but you have no idea what it might be. The suspense is kept high because, as a reader, you never know how the twist—which often seems to come out of nowhere—will affect the plot. The rapid back-and-forth between the two main characters confused me a bit at first, but once I became more familiar with the events from the past, the story became much more coherent, and the confusion cleared up. The story has a satisfying, not-over-the-top ending. There was no other way but to keep on reading, and for me, there isn’t a better way to read a book. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
