A truly magical story without 'actual' Magic

Bewertet: eBook (ePUB)

Books written by famous people like musicians or actors can be quite disappointing at times, since the writing style usually isn't that great and doesn't keep you flipping through the book page by page. But this book was quite different. I was hooked from the beginning - a story about a boy who ran away from his not-so-nice uncle because he abused his abilities as a street magician to steal from People and then ends up finding a new home and a group of friends who are truly honest People that want to do good. Which is what they are trying to do with the rather evil B. B. Bosso and his crew, a Circus full of People who just want to steal from the unknowing citizens of Mineral Wells. Carter and his friends go on a really great adventure together. This is a story about friendship, trusting and not trusting People, the different meanings of the word 'family' and in what different shapes magic can exist. I liked this novel a lot. It was easy to read but not boring, the characters were well-detailed and the General plot was also really great. The few secrets in the book were also fun to figure out, even if I would've liked a couple more of them. But they were definitely a nice addition and something a little new. All in all a really great story and a must-read for everyone interested in magic and stories about friendship.
