Fascinating and thrilling!

Bewertung am 29.03.2017

Bewertungsnummer: 470249

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

Scythe is a story about a world beyond mortality. For avoiding over-population, so-called scythes end lifes on statistic terms from the end of the "Age of mortality". The best scythes are those, who don´t want to become some. When Rowan and Citra are chosen to be the apprentices of one, they don´t suppose what will happen while their apprenticeship... A frightening, but fascinating scenery in a not-so-far-future. A story so gripping, it´s almost not possible to lay this book aside!

To Kill or to be Killed

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

In a world where Death is no longer accidental, we follow Citra Terranova and Rowan Damisch on their way to becoming Scythes - the only ones allowed to end lives. Against their wills they are chosen to learn the art of assassinating. But their world comes to a stop when it is decided that only one of them will become a scythe. And what is their first task? To execute the other. This book is the first of a trilogy and a perfect beginning for anyone new to science-fiction. It has you laughing, wondering, thinking. It talks about serious topics in a way that has you pondering long after reading the last page. The characters are both lovable (and sometimes detestable) and complex, the writing style is easy to understand and leaves you wanting to explore the world more. I recommend Scythe to all those who want to read a dystopian novel, with hints of politics, AI and religion.
