Prinzessinnen sind lieblich, zart und hilflos. So lehren es uns die Märchen, aber diese Prinzessin hat nicht vor, sich diesen Regel zu unterwerfen. Eine liebevoll gestaltete Geschichte mit einer ordentlichen Portion Fantasie darüber, wer man sein kann, wenn man nur an sich und andere glaubt.

After 19 years in hiding, Kelsea has to go home to claim her crown and country. This story takes you on a gripping journey and I loved the worldbuilding. Between political intrigue, a corrupt religion, a dwindling supply of money, military and supporters, Kelsea has to face that her reign will not only be a rocky start but also very difficult to maintain. And that is even more apparent when her neighboring country is threatening war. I truly loved how the characters are fleshed out with differing ambitions, political ideas and personal goals, and how their relationships develop. If you love political intrigue, definitely try this series! The only thing that I would criticise is that sometimes the references to 'real-world culture' took me out of the story and confused me on the time and place of the story. But if you ignore those, it's a truly great world to get lost in. I can’t wait to continue the series and see if and how Kelsea will fight for her people.
