Rezension

I've yet to meet a ten-year-old who hasn't been entranced by its witty, complex plot and the character of the eponymous Harry Independent

The Harry Potter series

Bewertung am 19.02.2025

Bewertet: Buch (Gebundene Ausgabe)

While I adore all the Harry Potter books—mostly for the nostalgia and the fact that Stephen Fry narrates them like a wizard casting a spell over me—I have to admit that the first book isn’t my favorite. It’s like the intro to a grand adventure, a bit more childish, but it sets the stage for what’s to come. What I really love is how the series grows up with you, just like the Gryffindor gang. And let's talk about character growth—Draco Malfoy, anyone? This kid starts off as your typical spoiled brat, but by the end, he’s a complex, conflicted teen just trying to protect his family. That kind of development? Chef’s kiss. The way motivations and feelings are woven through the story is chef's kiss again, honestly. Some characters have arcs that’ll make you cheer, and others will leave you emotionally wrecked. Snape’s comments, while completely unhinged and borderline offensive, are often so ridiculously funny I can’t help but snort. And then there’s Umbridge... she’s the kind of character you love to hate (and laugh at how perfectly hateable she is). In short, this book series will make you laugh, cry, and think—and sometimes all at once.

This is the kick-off of the Harry Potter the wizard series. Until his early childhood, Harry doesn’t know he is the son of two very famous wizards. His uncle and aunt, where he grew up, have always kept him in the dark about the circumstances his parents died. They dislike everything connected to magic as something unnatural, and therefore also Harry himself. But his life is about to change with the arrival of a particular letter, Harry has never heard of Hogwarts, a school for wizards. He can’t believe it at first, he has never used magic before so why should he go to school to learn how to be a wizard? There is a lot to learn during his first year at Hogwarts, furthermore, he learns more about his parents and how they died. The young boy survived that attack, but why was he spared? Who is this dark wizard who should not be named? There are rumours in the wizarding world that he’s dead or supposedly too weak to reappear. Is Hogwarts really the safest place, will Harry be strong enough to fight Voldemort again, in case he comes back. The young wizard will soon find out when he is confronted with a menace and his worst fears come true. This series is in my opinion not only for children, adults will find it amusing too. It’s a series to come back to again and again. A true masterpiece is full of adventure on a magical level, one you can’t put down.

It's magical.
