This book is really eye-opening to all the nuances of the Congo wars as well as the Rwandan genocide. Stearns writes in an understandable way and allows for self-research to get into more depth. He also makes sure that sentences with names of armies (eg RPF) or groups of people (eg the Banyamulenge) make sense to people with no prior knowledge on this topic. (i.e. on which side they are fighting).
What I would include is a trigger warning, because some passages are very graphic. These, however, are needed to show atrocities committed in those times.
