Dieser Teil ist lose mit dem ersten (Kiss of Midnight) verbunden, kann aber auch als "Stand-Alone" gelesen werden.
Der Held ist Dante, der bei einem nächtlichen Ausflug, bei dem er auf einen Rogue-Vampir trifft, schwer verletzt wird und in einer Tierklinik Zuflucht sucht. Hier arbeitet Tess. Dante findet schnell heraus, dass er ungewollt mit ihr eine "Breedmate" an sich gebunden hat, als er ihr Blut genommen hat. Zusätzlich wird ihm in den nächsten Nächten ein Agent der Darkhaven-Vampire an die Seite gestellt, der verschwundene Jugendliche finden soll. Eine Droge namens Crimson macht die Runde, nach der die Vampire in einen Blutrausch verfallen und zum Rogue werden.
Die Nebencharaktere sind diesmal voller Probleme und Geheimnissen, die sich erst im Lauf der Handlung zeigen.
Wieder ein genialer Roman der Autorin.
