Demon's Delight

Ich habe einige sehr angenehme Stunden schmökernd verbracht, bis ich diese anregend aufregende Mischung von paranormalen Love-Stories mit einem guten Schuss Erotik durchgelesen hatte. MaryJanice Davidson mit ihrem gewohnt schrägen Humor war als erste Story einfach klasse. Es gehört schon viel Erfahrung als Autor dazu, um soviel Spannung, Witz und Sex in eine so kurze Geschichte einzubringen. Die Story von Vickie Taylor ist das Erste, was ich bisher von ihr gelesen habe und hat mich dazu animiert, mehr von ihr lesen zu wollen. Gute Idee, gut ausgeführt und auch spannend bis zum Schluß. Im Gegensatz dazu fand ich die Geschichte von Catherine Spangler ein bißchen zu schmalzig, zu viel Herzschmerz. Nicht wirklich schlecht aber einfach etwas "over-the-top". Das Highlight der Anthologie war für mich aber diesmal Emma Holly. Eine erfrischend neue Sichtweise auf das Thema Menschen versus Dämonen und höllisch sexy. Definitiv meine Lieblingsstory! Sollte sie noch mehr in diesem Genre herausbringen wäre ich wohl der erste Kunde.

Demons Delight -- Witch Way - Davidson: Chris is a witch and Rhea a whitch hunter. no good starting point for their first meeting. Chris - or better, his anchestor - was cursed by Rheas ancester and now both families are caught in an eternal circle of hunt and kill. Each time those offsprings meet, the hunter kills the 'monster-witch' and dies in the process. So it was, so it will be. But neiter Chris nor Rhea feel too inclined in following that rule - or dying young. So - for the first time, they actually try to talk instead of just kill. And there are surprieses ahead for both of them. -- Street Corners and Halos - Spangler Rachel is a prostitute and a vampire. She has perfected a skill to pretend to her customers great sex while feeding on them. One day she meets the strange Gabriel who keeps on reappiearing in her neighbourhood. He is bent on helping her bus she sees neither hope nor reason to believe him. And while she fights with her heart and a desire to be released from her curse, Gabriel turns out to be more than the average streetworker. -- The Demon's Angel - Holly We meet a scientist of the demons who wants to alter the genetic material of the human race. She uses Harry as a lab rat. But that rat talkes back to her. And he irritates her with his human traits and wakes emotions that are forbidden to any decent Yama. And then, the experiment shows signs of succes. -- Angel and the Hellraiser - Taylor Rosy is an angel and she is supposed to save Zane. That man is doing almost anything to get killed. He performs dangours stuns, he loves to live his life in a state of adrenalin rush. But after getting to know him, Rosy suddenly learns about his motives and starts to understand why she is really there with him. **************** The book will get three stars. It is not one of the best anthologies. The Story of the witch is partly funny but there is not that much dynamics and the characters remain a bit flat. The solution is far too easy and the conclusion to get there is a bit stretchy. Ms Spanger gives a vampire the hope of redemption. She keeps on refering to her fate at the hands of the Nazi. The solution is nice and believable but the characters are not really that adoreable. Ms Holly is back with a Demon story, it really helps to know about them beforehand. The story is nice, the solution ok but nothing more. Not her typical gripping tale mixed with eroticism. I liked the last story the most as it slowly unveils with an extra at the end. Rosy is lively and Zane is abolutely believeable. All in all a mixture of good authors with only average storys. Except for Ms. Taylors.
