"Prince of Thorns" is the start of the trilogie of the "Broken Empire". I'd say, it's one of the best books i've read so far. My judge on this is a bit dependent on my "cracving" to read on - and that's really strong here! The fundamental storyline isn't an innovation but a somewhat simple "Vengeance-Story". Here is what this book makes so great for me: It's fast paced and you never get the feeling of an "sagging". It's fluidly tight woven with storyline and with some jumps in time (back and forth). The protagonist Jorg is not exactly a nice person. In fact he's a sick mind and don't gives a sh** about moral and manners. Feel free to despise him. Somehow i like him despite all his psychopathic beeing, it's just fiction after all. Some parts of his personality also get some explanation later on... 0,5 Stars Reduction because of the rather standard Story base theme. If you can live with this and a lot of bad and worse bloody situations ... give it a shot!

Ich bin noch nicht komplett durch mit dem Buch, es fehlt noch etwa 1/3, aber soweit gefällt es mir ganz gut. Ich würde mir nur mehr Hintergrundwissen wünschen und mehr zum Worldbuilding. Die Charaktere sind auch toll. Der Konflikt ist ganz unterhaltsam. Das Buch hat es auch geschafft mich zu fesseln, also dieses Gefühl von "Ich muss unbedingt wissen wie es weiter geht".
