Rip Van Winkle: A Romance of Sleepy Hollow is a classic novel written by Henri Meilhac and first published in 1882. The story follows the life of Rip Van Winkle, a man who lives in a small village called Sleepy Hollow. Rip is known for his laziness and tendency to avoid work, which causes him to fall out of favor with his wife and the other villagers. One day, while wandering in the woods, Rip comes across a group of strange men playing ninepins. He drinks with them and falls asleep. When he wakes up, he finds that everything around him has changed. The village is different, his friends are gone, and he has been asleep for twenty years.Rip struggles to adjust to the new world he finds himself in, but eventually he finds comfort in his old friend, the daughter of his former neighbor. The story is a classic tale of time travel and the consequences of neglecting one's responsibilities. It is a timeless tale of redemption and the power of friendship.Meilhac's writing is vivid and descriptive, painting a picture of the sleepy village and the strange world Rip finds himself in. The novel has become a beloved classic and has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and other works of art. It is a must-read for anyone who loves classic literature and timeless stories of adventure and redemption. This Book Is In English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
