""The Political Progress of Britain, Part 1: Or An Impartial History of Abuses in the Government of the British Empire"" is a historical book written by James Thomson Callender in 1795. The book provides a detailed account of the political and social conditions in Britain during the late 18th century. It highlights the abuses and corruption prevalent in the British government and the negative impact it had on the common people. The book is divided into several chapters, each covering a specific aspect of the British government. It begins by describing the monarchy and the powers vested in the king. It then moves on to discuss the House of Lords and the House of Commons, the two chambers of the British Parliament. The author provides a critical analysis of the functioning of these institutions and the influence of the aristocracy and the wealthy on the decision-making process. The book also sheds light on the treatment of the poor and the working-class people in Britain. It highlights the harsh living conditions, low wages, and lack of social welfare programs that left many people in a state of poverty and destitution. The author argues that the government's policies were designed to benefit the wealthy and powerful, rather than the common people.Overall, ""The Political Progress of Britain, Part 1: Or An Impartial History of Abuses in the Government of the British Empire"" is a valuable historical document that provides insights into the political and social conditions of Britain during the late 18th century. It is a must-read for anyone interested in British history, politics, and society. In Europe, Asia, And America, From The Revolution, In 1688, To The Present Time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
