The book ""Life Of The Marquess Wellesley"" written by George Bruce Malleson and published in 1889 is a comprehensive biography of Richard Colley Wellesley, the first Marquess Wellesley. Wellesley was a prominent figure in British politics and served as the Governor-General of India from 1798 to 1805. The book explores Wellesley's life, from his birth in 1760 to his death in 1842, and his many achievements and contributions to the British Empire. Malleson delves into Wellesley's family background, education, and early political career before focusing on his time in India. The author discusses Wellesley's policies and reforms in India, including his efforts to expand British influence and control over the region, his establishment of British rule in Mysore, and his military campaigns against the Marathas and Tipu Sultan. Malleson also examines Wellesley's personal relationships, including his marriage to Hyacinthe Gabrielle Roland and his strained relationship with his brother, Arthur Wellesley (later known as the Duke of Wellington).Overall, ""Life Of The Marquess Wellesley"" provides a detailed and insightful look into the life of one of Britain's most influential figures during the colonial era. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
