The book is essentially a catalogue of the collection of Josiah Wedgwood, a renowned English potter and entrepreneur who was also an avid collector of art and antiquities. The catalogue features detailed descriptions and illustrations of Wedgwood's extensive collection of cameos, intaglios, medals, bas-reliefs, busts, and small statues, which spanned a wide range of historical periods and cultures. The book provides valuable insights into the history and techniques of cameo and intaglio carving, as well as the various artistic traditions and styles represented in Wedgwood's collection. Overall, Wedgwood's Catalogue Of Cameos, Intaglios, Medals, Bas-Reliefs, Busts, And Small Statues (1873) is an indispensable resource for art historians, collectors, and anyone interested in the history of art and antiquities. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
