Selection From The Correspondence Of Macvey Napier is a book that was published in 1879. The book is a collection of letters written by Macvey Napier, a Scottish journalist, and literary critic. The letters were written between 1809 and 1834, and they cover a wide range of topics, including literature, politics, and personal matters. The book is divided into four parts, each covering a different period of Napier's life. The first part covers the period from 1809 to 1816, when Napier was a young journalist working for the Edinburgh Review. The second part covers the period from 1817 to 1826, when Napier was the editor of the Edinburgh Review. The third part covers the period from 1827 to 1832, when Napier was a member of Parliament. The fourth and final part covers the period from 1833 to 1834, when Napier was retired from politics and living in London. The letters in the book are addressed to a variety of people, including other journalists, politicians, and literary figures. Some of the most notable correspondents include William Hazlitt, John Murray, and Thomas Carlyle.Overall, Selection From The Correspondence Of Macvey Napier provides a fascinating insight into the life and times of one of Scotland's most influential literary figures. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of journalism, literature, or politics in the early 19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
