Patty Gray's Journey: From Baltimore To Washington is a historical novel written by Caroline Wells Healey Dall and first published in 1869. The book follows the journey of Patty Gray, a young girl from Baltimore who travels to Washington D.C. with her mother to witness the inauguration of President Lincoln in 1861.Throughout the story, Patty encounters a series of challenges and adventures as she navigates the political and social landscape of the nation's capital during the early years of the Civil War. Along the way, she meets a diverse cast of characters, including politicians, soldiers, and slaves, and learns about the complex issues and tensions that were shaping the country at the time.Through Patty's eyes, readers gain a unique perspective on the events of the Civil War era, as well as insights into the daily lives and struggles of ordinary people during this tumultuous period in American history. The book offers a compelling blend of historical accuracy and engaging storytelling, making it a must-read for anyone interested in the Civil War, American history, or the power of literature to transport readers to another time and place. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
