The Hathaway Family Part 3

Mag aus Berlin am 19.01.2021

Bewertungsnummer: 666092

Bewertet: Buch (Taschenbuch)

The Hathaway-Series is getting better and better! After the eldest sister Amelia married the half Rom Cam Rohan in "Mine Till Midnight" and the second sister Winnifred finally succeeded in bringing her childhood friend, another Rom named Kev Merripen, to the altar in "Seduce Me At Sunrise", it's now Poppy's turn to get married in "Tempt Me At Twilight". The Hathaway sisters are rather unconventional - they talk about politics, astrology, even history and warfare - but are hardly the usual, simpering debutantes out to make a proficient match. And they are a close family with lots of love and caring for each other. Now, after three almost hopeless seasons, where she could never fit into the common expectations towards a young, marriageable girl, Poppy seems to have found the right suitor in Michael Bayning. So far they can only meet secretly, because Michael is not sure that his strict, aristocratic father will consent to a Hathaway bride. But things change dramatically and turn everything upside down when Poppy unexpectedly bumps into hotel owner Harry Rutledge. He certainly is not the typical charming prince out of young girls' fantasies, on the contrary, he seems to be more villain than prince. He is hard working, industrious, full of ideas, very rich and absolutely used to get his will without compromising. To achieve his goals he does not shrink from employing hard, scrupulous and devious means - even to get Poppy to the altar. Almost everyone in her family tries to warn her off, but Poppy, although learning of Harry's betrayal shortly before the wedding, does not back out - she marries Harry nonetheless, but it will be a loveless marriage on her side......... or is there a possibility to repent and change? Again not only the two protagonists but also the whole Hathaway Family reappear in this third book about the Hathaways. There are lots of funny scenes (whenever there is an animal involved), as well as dramatic, exciting or sensual scenes combined by a good plot and carefully worked out characters with lots of personality, even flaws, that enable the author to minutely and masterly describe their development and transformation. Lisa Kleypas is always worth reading, but for me this book is the best so far in the Hathaway-Series.
