The Myth of Ra, The Supreme Sun God of Egypt is a book written by William Ricketts Cooper in 1877. The book is a detailed exploration of the mythology surrounding the Egyptian god Ra, who was considered the most important deity in the ancient Egyptian pantheon. Cooper provides copious citations from the solar and pantheistic litanies, which were the primary sources of information on Ra and other Egyptian gods. He delves into Ra's origins, his role in creation, his relationship with other gods, and his various manifestations and attributes. The book also examines the significance of Ra in Egyptian society and culture, including his role in the pharaonic cult and his association with the afterlife. Cooper draws upon a wide range of sources, including ancient texts, inscriptions, and artwork, to provide a comprehensive account of Ra's mythology and cult. Overall, The Myth of Ra, The Supreme Sun God of Egypt is a valuable resource for anyone interested in ancient Egyptian religion and mythology. It provides a detailed and authoritative account of one of the most important gods in the Egyptian pantheon, and sheds light on the complex beliefs and practices of this fascinating civilization.Being A Paper Read Before The Victoria Institute Or Philosophical Society Of Great Britain.
