Kidnapped!
One by one, the members of Emerson Hicky’s football team are disappearing. As far as Chet Gecko is concerned, this is a cause for celebration. Only trouble is that Chet’s old nemesis, Herman the Gila Monster, is the number one suspect, and he wants Chet to clear his (not quite) good name.
Coach "Beef" Stroganoff is ready to boot the big lizard before Friday’s game against Petsadena Elementary. For a fourth-grade detective with a serious sweet tooth, Herman’s bribe of chocolate cake for every found player makes the case tempting.
Strapping on a smelly uniform to run laps sounds awful to Chet, but going undercover is the only way to snoop. Surviving Coach’s bone-crunching scrimmage drills leaves very little time for actual sleuthing.
Chet and his mockingbird partner, Natalie Attired, must solve the case fast, or Herman will make sure it’s their last. But which is more dangerous—Herman … or P.E. class?
- Unlikely Hero: Chet would rather lounge under his favorite tree than run wind sprints, but his lightning-fast gecko tongue proves unexpectedly useful when chaos erupts.
- School Drama: Between coach-assigned nicknames like Angry Hairdryer, cafeteria horsefly burritos, and suspicious stomachaches, Emerson Hicky Elementary is pure mayhem.
- Sports Books: With star quarterback Justin Case knocked out of commission, the Gophers need every substitute they can get.
- Funny Books for Kids: Hardboiled detective slang, witty wordplay, and snappy banter between Chet and mockingbird partner Natalie keep the laughs coming on every page.
- Also by This Author: Clark the Shark: Too Many Treats, Clark the Shark and Clark the Shark and the Big Book Report.
