2nd of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. One of the brothers - Rhage - was sentenced by the vampires diety Scribe Virgin to share his body with a beast that appears whenever he cannot control his emotions. So he fights and has sex, the only two ways to keep calm. But while the Lessers - the 'evil' society aiming at erasing all vampires - plot to get hold of the Brotherhood, Rhage meets Mary. Not only is she absolutely unaware of the Vampire-Society, she also has to face a very serious cancer treatment after two years of remission. So love is the last on her mind. But Rhage is drawn to her as she is drawn to him - and not even punishment or her approaching death can stop him. - *** Bye now, the reader knows most of the characters but Ms Ward still explains the outline of her universe again. You meet all the characters you fell in love with in the first book and you learn some more about them. Again there are moments you almost have to cry or laugh aloud. There is now discrepancy in characters or storyline or in the whole universe. Even though the main story about Rhage and Mary is complete, there are some serious open ends that really call for a third part - which is Lover Awakend.

Alle Black Dagger Bücher von J.R. Ward habe ich bisher in deutsch verschlungen. Da es aber noch eine Weile dauert, bis der nächste Band in deutsch erscheint, lese ich bis dahin einfach alle noch mal in englisch. Wer englisch kann, dem kann ich es nur empfehlen. Und wer eine Entscheidung braucht, ob englisch oder deutsch: bei den Originalbüchern spart man Geld und Platz, denn aus jedem englischen Buch werden zwei Deutsche gemacht. Viel Spaß beim Lesen.
