... Have taken place in Honor Harrington`s Universe. While he Republic of Haven finally faces a new Government and all the problems of a new democracy, Admiral Lady Dame Honor Harrington has to face the only threat she cannot fight: Her own world`s new government, the media - and her own feelings. But when she is sent to Silesia once again to stop pirate raids, even she cannot predict what is going to happen when different interests - Manticoran, Andermani and Havenite - start conflicting once again. Certainly noone wanted a war, but war is inevitable... The problem I was confronted with while reading wasn`t the great style the book - all of the Honor-Harrington-novels - are written in. Neither was it the great variety of characters, each with his own personality, or the way the treecats of Spinx become increasingly more important. Neither was it the amusing dialogues especially Graysons can come up with. No, it was the fact that the autor seemed to believe Honor still needed to recover from her long and arduous trip back from Hell, the prison planet she was kept on - back to Manticore. Despite the fact that she actually is supposed to be the main character, she certainly is the one figure featured least in 950 pages. Nevertheless, David Weber managed to create a new novel filled with action, space battles, political intrigues and games and stunningly realistic characters. "Love the enemy" surely is a motto here, for after accompanying even Havenite space ship captains who`d love to blow Honor out of space one really feels sorry if they have to take their leave. Also, Weber`s description of how war is fought leaves nothing of the supposed glory of it: Nobody wants to kill people and everybody wants to live. Nevertheless, if Honor could appear a little more throughout the book, I`d like it even more.
