Geognosy: Or The Facts And Principles Of Geology Against Theories is a book written by David Nevins Lord and published in 1857. The book is an extensive study of geology, focusing on the facts and principles of the science, while also addressing the various theories that were prevalent at the time. Lord begins by introducing the reader to the basic principles of geology, including the structure of the earth, the different types of rocks and minerals, and the various geological formations that exist. He then delves into the history of the science, tracing its development from the early Greek philosophers to the modern era.Throughout the book, Lord takes a critical approach to the theories of his contemporaries, arguing that many of them are based on flawed assumptions or incomplete data. He also presents his own theories, based on his extensive research and observations.Geognosy: Or The Facts And Principles Of Geology Against Theories is a comprehensive and detailed work that provides a thorough understanding of the science of geology.
