Shantaram is a masterpiece

I've already read this book about ten years ago, now I thought it's time to read it again. It's just every bit as good as I remember it. Its mixture of adventure and crime is absolutely gripping and the surprisingly profound bits of wisdom offered are never tacky or superficial. It feels very real and raw and is one of the most beautiful books I've ever read. Takes your mind off of things and opens it at the same time.

Ein wirklich spannendes und tolles Buch, mitreisend und alles hat er wirklich selbst erlebt! Muss man gelesen haben, insbesondere wenn man schon einmal in Indien gewesen ist...aber auch sonst.

Anybody who wants to know more about life itsself, has to read this book. It's always amazing when you see what people can get up to in their lifetime. And it's even more remarkable when they write a book about it, that is so riveting and unputdownable as this one. "Shantaram" is like a heart stopping rollercoaster full of humanity and love for all mankind. If you havn't already read it, do so. It's worth it. S.Krautz
