An Historico-Critical Inquiry Into The Origin And Composition Of The Hexateuch, Pentateuch And Book Of Joshua is a scholarly work by Abraham Kuenen that explores the origins and composition of the first six books of the Hebrew Bible. The book is divided into three parts, each of which examines a different aspect of the text. The first part focuses on the historical context in which the books were written and the sources from which they were derived. The second part examines the literary structure of the text, including the use of repetition, parallelism, and other literary devices. The third part explores the theological themes and ideas that are present in the text, including the nature of God, the relationship between God and humanity, and the role of the Israelites in the world. Throughout the book, Kuenen draws on a wide range of sources, including biblical texts, historical documents, and archaeological evidence, to provide a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the Hexateuch, Pentateuch, and Book of Joshua. This work is an important contribution to the field of biblical studies and is essential reading for anyone interested in the history and composition of the Hebrew Bible. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
