The subsequent chapters cover the Second and Third Crusades, the rise of the Knights Templar and the Teutonic Knights, and the Fourth Crusade, which resulted in the sack of Constantinople.Throughout the book, Ludlow explores the motivations behind the Crusades, including religious fervor, political ambition, and economic gain.
