Histories is a historical work written by the Roman historian Tacitus, specifically covering the period from the death of Nero in 68 AD to the end of the First Jewish-Roman War in 70 AD. The book is divided into twelve chapters, each focusing on a different event or period of time. Tacitus provides a detailed account of the political and military events of the time, including the rise of the Flavian dynasty, the rebellion of the Batavi, and the siege of Jerusalem. He also explores the character and motivations of the key figures involved in these events, including Vespasian, Titus, and Josephus. The book is known for its vivid and dramatic descriptions, as well as its critical analysis of the Roman Empire and its leaders. Overall, Histories is a valuable historical source for understanding the political and military history of the Roman Empire in the late first century AD.Covers Rome from 69 to 70 AD.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
