The community's early interest in and recognition of scholarly pursuits and its 62 schools earned it the name Schooltown. Today, it is known for its village green and historic sites. Faye Cittadino, a former public school educator, and Frank Cittadino, an artist and professor at Utica College, have long been active in historic research, consulting, and teaching and share a passion for history and their community. They have served in a variety of local, state, and national leadership positions and currently serve on the board of directors for the Clinton Historical Society.
