There is a need to control the rapid ripening of these things by controlling the ethylene gas produced by fruits and vegetables. Among the methods practiced to control ethylene, adsorption has proven to be an economical and effective method. In the present research work, different adsorption materials namely activated carbon, H-ZSM-5 zeolite and green synthesized ZnO nanoparticles, are used for the study. A new methodology was developed by storing fruits and vegetables in vented PET boxes and suspending all selected adsorbents of known weight above the fruits and vegetables.

Le Dr Patil a obtenu son doctorat dans le domaine de la science des polymères en 2008 à l'Université de Karnatak, Dharwad, Inde. Il travaille comme professeur adjoint au département de chimie de P. G., Basaveshwar Science College, Bagalkot, Karnataka, Inde. Il s'intéresse aux membranes polymères et à la nanotechnologie des piles à combustible. Il a travaillé au Qatar et en Angleterre pour ses recherches.
