Christensen is director of the National Project on Home-Based Work and associate professor of environmental psychology at the Graduate School and University Center, City University of New York. She is the author of Women and Home-Based Work: The Unspoken Contract (1988) and of numerous articles on contingent work and the changing structure of the workforce.
