Seminar paper from the year 2003 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1.7, Ruhr-University of Bochum, language: English, abstract: Reading the “The Great Gatsby”, I was very impressed about the style and the way the author let his actors behave or the description of the settings. In the following pages, I try to explain and to analyse Gatsby’s sole dream: his obsession for his one-time love – Daisy. First of all, as a foundation, I will characterize the main actors, then analyse the important settings and their influence on the figures and finally try to explain why it ends in this way.
