Produktbeschreibung
Qt is a multiplatform, C++ application framework that lets developers write one application that will run - natively - on Windows, Linux/Unix, Mac OS X, and embedded Linux with a simple recompile.

The platform-independent GUI toolkit Qt, developed by the Norwegian company Trolltech, makes great inroads into the programming market, but there is by far not yet a third-party market that could compare to the MFC or Java markets. Therefore, it is not easy to find information about advanced subjects or solutions to common problems.

This gap is what this book tries to fill. It contains more than 80 solutions to common problems. All solutions have the same structure: problem description - solution description - runnable code.

The solutions are sorted by subject (user-defined graphics, working with UI elements, working with databases, network programming, etc.), which makes random access possible. The book is thus suitable both for a quick lookup and for reading cover-to-cover. A particular feature of this book is the fact that all solutions stem from the daily work of the developers at Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB as Qt developers, consultants and teachers.

This makes the various subjects immediately relevant for other Qt developers.

The book is written for Qt 3 and 4 and is targeted at Qt developers who have made it beyond the first steps and want to use Qt productively.
Autorenporträt
Matthias Kalle Dalheimer is the President & CEO of Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB, the largest independent provider of Qt tools, training, and consultancy, as well as a founding member of the KDE project. He has developed software with Qt since 1996 and taught numerous Qt courses in three different continents. He has also authored a successful introductory book on Qt, which has been published in two editions so far ("Programming with Qt", O'Reilly 1999 and 2002).

Jesper K. Pedersen has worked with Qt for five years, four of which professionally. Jesper is, together with Kalle, the author of Trolltech's official Qt training material. In his spare time, Jesper is the author of the KDE applications KRegExpEditor (Regular expression editor) and KimDaBa (Photo manager).

Kalle and Jesper have written this book with the help of their colleagues at Klarälvdalens Datakonsult AB, all of which are experienced Qt developers with hundreds of thousands lines of code under their belt.
