Sommelier Marnie Old is a breath of fresh air in the wine world, known for her engaging and intuitive explanations of complex wine topics. She writes a humorous wine column for the Philadelphia Daily News and is a featured speaker at the annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen. Formerly director of wine studies for Manhattan’s esteemed French Culinary Institute, Old also served as the founding education chairperson for the American Sommelier Association. Her first book, also published by DK, was the popular He Said Beer, She Said Wine, an entertaining debate on food pairing coauthored with beer legend Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. Old has also written the popular Wine Secrets and the award-winning Wine Simplified , an interactive crash-course ebook.
