This is a collection of poems and essays that represents a significant amount of the material that I have written over a span of the last three decades. Poetry is the main form of the writing I have done, but I also did some song-writing and short prose pieces, though I have chosen to include mostly poetry in this book. This is the first time I have published any of my work, as writing and music have been more of a hobby for me than a serious consideration. It is only by the friendly suggestions of friends and family that this book sees fruition even now, so I hope that I don't disappoint anybody's expectations.…mehr

My name is John Patrick Bird, but like many in my family, I go by my second name, Pat. I presently live in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, where I have lived most of my life except for the ten years that my family spent in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in the 1970's. I have been employed as a rail employee for just about the last thirty years, working in southern Saskatchewan as a brakeman, conductor and locomotive engineer. I am married to my wife, Sharon, and have two children, Joel and Jessica. My main interests are music and writing, although I have in the past enjoyed many sporting activities and we are busy with our new pup, Buddy. My writing started in high school in Winnipeg and I have been looking for inspiration in that area since. Although at times sporadic, I have written fairly steadily over the years. This collection is a partial result of that journey. I hope you enjoy.
